Enterprise Automation Portfolio Weekly Review: Strong Gains in Workday and UiPath, One Position Closed

Portfolio Overview

The Enterprise Automation Portfolio focuses on companies enabling digital transformation across industries, including cloud-based ERP, RPA, process mining, and industrial automation. This week, the portfolio benefited from strong earnings and positive sentiment in key holdings.

Performance Drivers

Workday (WDAY) surged 45.36% since inception, reflecting robust demand for its cloud-based HR and financial management solutions. UiPath (PATH) also delivered strong gains, up 42.65%, as the RPA leader continues to expand its AI-powered automation platform. Rocket Lab (RKLB) gained 17.61%, benefiting from increased space-related automation contracts.

Other notable performers included Rapid7 (RPD) (+20.27%) and Kofax (BABA) (+14.29%), both benefiting from strong cybersecurity and document automation demand.

Laggards and Risk Management

Several positions lagged, including Tungsten Automation (ROK) (-6.39%), Symbotic (SYM) (-6.67%), and Cognex (CGNX) (-6.47%). These declines are largely due to sector rotation and temporary headwinds. However, we have decided to close Tungsten Automation due to a weakened thesis: its legacy document automation offerings are losing market share to cloud-native competitors, and the stock has failed to recover despite a broad market rally.

Portfolio Positioning

The portfolio remains well-diversified across automation sub-themes, with no excessive concentration in any single stock. The largest position, Workday, represents a modest overweight, but we view it as a core holding given its strong fundamentals. We continue to monitor the portfolio’s exposure to high-growth, high-valuation names, which could be volatile in a rising-rate environment.

What to Watch

Key catalysts in the coming weeks include earnings reports from Monday.com, Samsara, and Workiva. We will also watch for any macro-driven sell-offs that could present buying opportunities in high-quality automation names. Additionally, we will monitor the performance of UiPath as it approaches its 180-day holding period, after which it will become eligible for close review.
