The portfolio’s thematic focus on global food supply chains remains relevant amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and climate disruptions. However, we are taking action to trim underperformers and reallocate capital to higher-conviction ideas.
Positions Closed This Week
Ginkgo Bioworks (DNA) – Closed after an 11.78% gain. While the synthetic biology platform has promise, its direct impact on food security is limited, and the stock’s valuation has become stretched. We prefer to lock in profits and redeploy into more direct food chain plays.
Darling Ingredients (DAR) – Closed with a -1.09% loss. The thesis around renewable diesel feedstocks has weakened due to regulatory uncertainty and margin compression. We see better risk/reward in other positions.
Key Movers
Ginkgo Bioworks (DNA) led the portfolio with an 11.78% return, driven by positive sentiment on biotech. Tyson Foods (TSN) and Corteva (CTVA) also posted gains of 1.30% and 1.23%, respectively, reflecting stable demand for protein and agricultural inputs. On the downside, LDC (LVMHF) fell -3.80% and Lantmännen (EKTAF) dropped -3.08%, both impacted by softer commodity prices.
Risk & Concentration
The portfolio remains well-diversified across subsectors: seeds, fertilizers, protein, and processing. However, we note a slight overweight in European agribusiness, which may be exposed to regional regulatory risks. We continue to monitor currency exposure and liquidity in smaller OTC-traded names.
What to Watch
