Luxury Portfolio Weekly Review: Mixed Signals, Two Positions Closed

Review Date: July 1, 2026

The Luxury Portfolio continues to navigate a challenging environment for high-end goods. Consumer spending on luxury items has softened amid global economic uncertainty, leading to mixed returns across our holdings. As of this review, the portfolio’s open positions show a narrow range of performance, with most stocks hovering near their entry prices.

Performance Highlights

  • EssilorLuxottica (ESLOY) leads with a +5.13% return, benefiting from strong demand for eyewear and digital solutions.
  • Titan Company (IPX) gained +9.17%, driven by robust jewelry sales in India.
  • Richemont (CFRHF) and Burberry (BURBY) are among the laggards, down -4.00% and -3.16% respectively, reflecting headwinds in watch and apparel segments.
  • Several positions, including Hermès (HESAY) and LVMH (LVMHF), are slightly negative, indicating broad-based caution.

Portfolio Actions

We have decided to close two positions:

  • Farfetch (FTCHQ): This stock has no available pricing data (quotes at 0.0000), suggesting it may be delisted or untradeable. We are closing this position to eliminate a non-performing asset.
  • Shinola/Detroit (TSM): The ticker TSM corresponds to Taiwan Semiconductor, not the luxury watchmaker. This appears to be a data error, and the position does not fit the luxury theme. We are closing it.

All other positions remain open. We continue to monitor the luxury sector for signs of recovery or further deterioration.

Risk Concentration

The portfolio remains diversified across geographies and sub-sectors (apparel, accessories, watches, jewelry, eyewear). However, there is a notable concentration in European luxury houses. We are comfortable with this given the theme.

What to Watch

  • Upcoming earnings reports from LVMH and Kering for insights into consumer demand.
  • Macroeconomic data on consumer confidence and spending in key markets (China, US, Europe).
  • Currency fluctuations, particularly EUR/USD and CHF/USD, which impact European luxury exporters.
